IP Telephony

Remote and Mobile Workers

Most businesses have a segment of their work force that is mobile. To be fully effective, this group needs access to corporate system functions such as call routing, messaging (voice, email, fax) and business data from wherever they are. Similarly, those who work from remote locations must have these tools. IP Telephony makes this possible.

With IP Telephony, mobile workers can be reached in one call, using the Find Me, Follow Me features. They can connect to business systems using Virtual Office on their PC. They can check all their messages at once, using their phone, laptop or handheld device. Remote users can work as if they are actually in the main office, with all data and telephony functions available to them.

Key benefits for mobile and remote workers include the ability to:

Anywhere access to phone features

Need to work in a different office today to be closer to your customer? No problem. You can just ‘hot desk’ from one of the workstations at the other office, or you can take your laptop equipped with the Virtual Office feature. Using a broadband connection or wireless Hotspot from anywhere, the Virtual Office gives you call controls, presence management, e-mail, voice mail, message forwarding, and Web and data access included.

In a car? No problem. You can listen to all your messages (voice, email, fax) while driving. You can also access your contacts in Microsoft Outlook and place calls. You can even make yourself available for calls so that they automatically find you on your mobile phone.

Unified messaging

Get to your afternoon meeting a little early and have some extra time to check messages? You can access your inbox and unified messaging using your laptop and the Virtual Office and, in minutes, respond to any new e-mails, voice mails or faxes. You probably won’t have new voice mails, however, since your Follow-me status forwards calls as needed.

Faxing from the desktop

No fax machine nearby? None is needed. Simply access the new fax message queued in your unified messaging inbox, and a fax viewer pops onto your screen, whether you’re in an office on a PC or using your laptop’s Virtual Office. The fax viewer’s controls let you switch from page to page for multi-page faxes (such as contracts), zoom in and zoom out, rotate when a fax comes in upside down, and even forward faxes to an alternate number. You can also send faxes directly from your desktop.
